Evaluation of Equine Infectious Anemia Virus by the Indirect Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay EIA-LAB as Screening Tools in Mexico

Abstract Equine infectious anemia is a worldwide distributed disease that affects the Equide family. Commercial effective vaccine not available, for reason control of depends on diagnostic tools. To improve efficiency program in Cuba, LABIOFAM Group, developed an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), ELISA kit, to complement system currently uses agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) kit. The AIE-LAB Kit was evaluated Mexican context, compared with gold standard test Agar immunodiffusion, AGID AIE-LABIOFAM, and commercial analytical sensitivity determined using serial dilutions twofold positive serum establish range detected antibodies relation cutoff value plate (OD 0.300). A precision study carried out evaluate repeatability, intermediate precision, reproducibility by estimating deviation coefficient variation. results were satisfactory values variation considered adequate guarantee excellent consistency AIE-LAB. performance involved evaluation specificity, sensitivity, concordance comparison both tests. 100% specificity 97.6%, very good degree (Kappa = 0.9). suggest could be used Mexico as detection specific against equine virus, per current international norms.
